Taranaa Karaoke Player is a software that allows you to subscribe to Taranaa.com, download karaoke tracks from our online collection and play them on your computer. This article will guide you through the setup of Taranaa Karaoke Player (TKP) on your home computer.

Contents

Step 1: Install Taranaa Karaoke Player (TKP)

  • Before installing TKP, please make sure that you have uninstalled any previous version of TKP from your computer. Please see the section on uninstalling TKP below.
  • Install the latest version of TKP for Windows or for MAC
  • Click the Run, Yes and Next buttons wherever they appear to keep progressing with the installation.
  • Use all default settings. These are good for most users.
  • If you are using Windows 7 or Vista, install TKP in the folder C:\Taranaa.com, instead of the default installation folder C:\Program Files\Taranaa.com. Windows Vista has new security options called "User Account Control (UAC)" where it blocks installed programs from being able to create or modify files residing in your Program Files folder. This comes in the way of TKP when it tries to create your playlists. Alternately, you have to run and use TKP as an administrator or grant TKP administrative privileges. For specific instructions please review this page: Windows 7 or Vista Installation.
  • Please note that TKP will need to communicate with our servers for registering and downloading tracks. If you have any network monitoring software or firewall that blocks TKP from accessing the Internet, please remember to grant adequate access privileges and permissions to TaranaaKaraokePlayer.exe.
  • During installation or after, if you are getting an error message MSVCR71.DLL Not Found, please review the following sections:
  1. MSVCR71.DLL Not Found on Windows XP
  2. MSVCR71.DLL Not Found on Windows 7 or Vista

Step 2: Register TKP

  • Before you can start using TKP, you need to register your player.
  • Start TKP, click Subscription Menu, then click Register.

Image:RegisterLink.jpg

  • Fill out the simple form and submit by clicking the Register button.
  • Ensure that you provide a valid email address. You cannot complete player registration using a dummy email address.
  • In order to receive emails back from Taranaa Team, please add "info@taranaa.com" and "support@taranaa.com" to your contacts list (address book) in your email client. Without this, it is likely that emails from Taranaa will end up in your SPAM or JUNK folders.
  • If you have a Hotmail or MSN email account, please read this note: How To Add Taranaa.com To Your Safe Sender's List

Image:RegistrationDialog.jpg

  • You will receive your player ID via email. Enter the player ID in the registration form and press the Complete button.

Image:RegistrationComplete.jpg

  • If you do not receive this email with your player ID, please check your junk mail or spam folders. Look for an email from info@taranaa.com. To ensure problem-free email delivery, you can add the domains taranaa.com and taranaa.net and the email address info@taranaa.com to your safe sender's list so that our emails reach your inbox quickly.

  • Click the red Download button in TKP. Image:DownloadButton.jpg
  • If you get Message from Taranaa, read it and press the Close button to dissmiss it.
  • You will then see a Download A Track from Taranaa.com dialog box.
  • This dialog has 2 tabs: Subscription Tracks and Free Sample Tracks. The Subscription Tracks tab is selected by default. The Free Sample Tracks tab can be selected by clicking on it.

Image:DownloadDialog.jpg

  • Click on a track title under Free Sample Tracks. Press OK button. This will start track download.
  • Watch the red vertical progress bar on the right hand side of TKP. Wait until this bar reaches 100% and you get a message saying that the track is added to your Sample Tracks playlist. You need to download a track only once. A track once downloaded can be played any number of times, even offline without being connected to the Internet.

Image:RedProgressBar2.jpg

You can view the complete list of Subscription Tracks ready for download from this dialog. You can download the Subscription Tracks only after getting a subscription license, as explained in Step 6 below.

Step 4: Select & Play Sample Tracks

In order to play a sample track, you have to select it from a list of Sample Tracks that you have downloaded so far.

  • Click the red Select button in TKP.Image:SelectButton.jpg
  • You will get a dialog box Select A Track For Playback
  • Click on a track title and press the OK button

You can now directly download the license file using TKP and unlock your player.

Image:DownloadLicense1.jpg

  • From the Subscription menu, click Get License.
  • This will download and install the license and unlock your player for regular use.

That's it! You are now ready to download Subscription Tracks and begin your musical journey.

Alternately you can download the license file from your email and save it on your computer for safe-keeping.

  • Download the license file from your email and save it in the player installation folder, which by default is C:\Program Files\Taranaa.com folder.
  • Here are some screenshots of Internet Explorer Save Attachment dialog. First select Local Disk (C:) as shown below.

Image:SaveLicense1.jpg

  • Then double click Program Files folder to open it.

Image:SaveLicense2.jpg

  • Then double click Taranaa.com folder to open it.

Image:SaveLicense3.jpg

  • Finally press the Save button to save the tkp.license file in the C:\Program Files\Taranaa.com folder.
  • After saving your license file in the player installation folder, restart TKP. If you do not get any error message, you have successfully installed the license and are all set to download Subscription Tracks following the same procedure as in Step 3 above.

Membership Renewal

Renewing your Taranaa subscription is no different from buying a new subcription. Here is how to proceed:

  • Start your TKP (Taranaa Karaoke Player)
  • From the subscription menu click on BUY LICENSE
  • This brings up Internet Explorer and takes you to Taranaa License Server. Alternately, you can click on this link and login using your email address and TKP player ID Number (pin).
  • Click on a suitable BuyNow button and complete your online credit card payment on Paypal.
  • Go back to TKP. From the subscription menu, click on GET LICENSE to download your new license.
  • Close TKP and restart to activate your new license.

What Is My Player ID Number (pin)

A player ID number (pin) is a unique number that is used to register your player in our database. This pin number is required to login to Taranaa License Server for license purchase. You can easily look it up as below:

  • Start TKP
  • From the subscription menu, click REGISTER
  • This brings up the Registration Dialog, which displays your player ID number.
  • You can kill this dialog using the x button in the top right corner.

Transferring TKP installation from one computer to another

  • DO NOT COPY any TKP files from one computer to another. This will create unnecessary confusion.
  • Instead, do a fresh new installation on your other computer using the steps outlined above.
  • Register your new TKP player using the same email address that you used previously.
  • Click BUY LICENSE from the subscription menu.
  • Go to the Taranaa License Server page. At the very bottom of the page you will see a License Transfer section.
  • Click the Buy Now button in this section and complete your $5 payment on PayPal.
  • This will generate your transfer license.
  • From TKP subscription menu click GET LICENSE to download your new license into your new TKP installation.
  • Your previous license may be cancelled at this point.

License Problem: Error Messages

  • If you are using Windows Vista, please see instructions in Step 1 above.
  • When you start TKP, if you get an error message titled UNLICENSED PLAYER, you have not saved the tkp.license file in the player installation folder, which by default is C:\Taranaa.com. Using Windows Explorer, open the folder C:\Taranaa.com and verify that the tkp.license file is saved in this folder. The file size is approximately 375 bytes.

If the license file is missing, please follow instructions in STEP 6 above: "Downloading License File"

  • When you start TKP, if you get an eror message titled INVALID LICENSE, most likely something has changed on your computer since the time you registered the player. In this situation, you will have to delete the 2 files
    • registration.txt
    • tkp.license

residing in the folder C:\Taranaa.com using Windows Explorer. Restart TKP and complete player registration. You will receive a new player ID. Once you complete player registration, click the GET LICENSE link under subscription menu to download a transfer license. If you still get this error, write to support@taranaa.com requesting a new license for your new player ID.

  • If you are not using TKPv3.5.0, you are encouraged to upgrade using instructions in Section 7 above. With TKPv3.5.0 you can download a new license using the GET LICENSE link from the subscription menu. This resolves all license related problems.

MSVCR71.dll Problem

Some people have reported a problem during TKP installation or startup: "This application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found".

  • The MSVCR71.dll file is a Windows system file that should reside in your C:\Windows\System32 folder. If this file was inadvertently deleted, TKP installation gets affected.
  • To restore this file, you can click here to download MSVCR71.DLL from Microsoft
  • Download MSVCR71.dll and place it in your C:\Windows\System32 or C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder (depending upon your operating system).
  • For more info please read this article from Microsoft
  • After restoring MSVCR71.dll you can run the TKP installer and start TKP.

Uninstalling TKP

  • Press the Windows START button
  • Mouseover to All Programs then Taranaa.com
  • Click Uninstall Taranaa Karaoke Player

Image:UninstallTKP.jpg

  • Uninstalling TKP will not delete any tracks that you have previously downloaded.
  • Open the installation folder C:\Program Files\Taranaa.com or C:\Taranaa.com
  • Delete the files registration.txt and tkp.license. This will ensure that your previous installation will not conflict with your new installation of TKP.

How To Upgrade To TKPv4.0.0

To upgrade your existing TKP to the newer v4.0.0 follow these steps:

  • Before you proceed please uninstall your existing TKP per above instructions
  • Click this link http://taranaa.com/installer/TKPv400installer.exe and RUN the installer

  • Start TKP.
  • From Subscription menu click Register. Fill out the registration form. This form will be already filled out if you have not deleted your previous registration.txt file. In order to find your existing license in our licensing database, it is important that you enter the same email address that you used when you registered your previous installation of TKP. If you use a different email address, we will not be able to automatically transfer your existing license to your new TKP installation.
  • In the registration dialog click Register button.
  • You will receive a new player ID via email. Put this new player ID in the player ID field. (In case your registration dialog is already populated, delete your old player ID and replace it with your new player ID.)
  • Press Complete button.
  • Finally from the Subscription menu click Get License. When it asks if you purchased a new license recently, say YES.

This will transfer your existing active license to your new player.

Track Search Dialog

The Track Download Dialog and the Track Select Dialog are both equipped with a Track Search tool. Click the Search button to launch this tool. You can search tracks by Title, Singers, Album or Music. Enter a search keyword and hit the Search button. If matching tracks are found, the list of tracks is trimmed to display only the matching tracks.  A few examples below:

  • Enter  burman and select Music column. This will show you all tracks composed by R.D.Burman and S.D.Burman.
  • Enter lata, asha and select Singers column. The comma makes all keywords optional. The search results therefore include all tracks sung by either Lata or by Asha - this includes solos and duets.
  • Enter lata + kishore and select Singers column. This will show you all duets performed by Lata and Kishore. The plus sign makes all keywords required. You can also use the & symbol in place of the + to get the same results.

To cancel search results and view full unfiltered list of tracks, you can start a new search and hit Cancel. Alternately you can hit the All Tracks / New Tracks button.

Image:TracksSearch.jpg

Quick Search & Select

The Track Download Dialog and the Track Select Dialog are both equipped with a QuickSearch tool. A quick way to select a track by Title is to start typing the first few characters of the song title. For example, type 'mere': as you type these characters, the row selection will advance to the first matching track and take you to 'Mere Desh Ki Dharti'. If a matching track title is not found, the search keyword is automatically reset to start a new search. You can also hit the Escape key to start a new QuickSearch.
