Taranaa Kids Sing Dhoom

Anoop

Wow! This Taranaa GTG was my first! I met Vidyu early this year and learnt about Taranaa from her (she being the SOM then). Then I started following the forums and got acquainted with so many great singers, human beings which provided me so much encouragement so I could get my first song out. Anyway, to cut is short, it was a great musical day! With so many singers on one platform! Man, what a musical treat! I got a chance to meet many of you in person and learn from their expertise and also performed some songs (some successfully some not so due to track/lyrics issues!) But I was very much inspired with so much talent in the air! So much inspiration!

We started around 3pm with each singer having couple songs going alphabetically. This took us to around 6.30pm. Then we broke for dinner and then restarted around 8:30pm going all the way up to 1.30AM! At which time I had to leave though I wished it just went on and on!

Vidyu is such a great host! She had everything for everyone's needs. I had small kids which had a blast with other kids of similar ages! It was absolutely awesome! Vidyu, Kush and their daughters were just amazing and helpful and encouraging! We just appreciate being part of such an event!

Kind words and great songs from Soumitra, Dablina, Vidya and Ramesh were the highlights! Also, Khan Sahab and Soumitra called in and heard some of the clips of the current performers!

I got a chance to meet in person with Harshal, Amita, Asim Da, Piya, Debashish, Raj, Naimish (did I miss anyone?) and of course their amazing family and kids. It was great that they could come down to DC and it was just an absolute Musical treat! We also had local talent/members: Manoj Niar, Surendra Sharma and TK! They were awesome!

There was also discussion about the future of Taranaa and how it could be promoted further to become more popular.

Thanks for making me part of this fun and looking forward to more of these musical GTGs!

Go TARANAA!

Asim

Friends-

Anoop has painstakingly depicted last week's event - great job Anoop. Yes, it was quite a blast, which is well-expected especially when a bunch of like-minded music junkies get together under one roof and sing/chat their heart out, until the wee-hours of the night. Can't list all the songs sung at the party, but can give you a general idea that we covered all the stalwarts (Mukesh, Rafi, Kishore, Hemant Kumar, Udit, Sonu, Sanu, Lata, Asha, Suman Kalyanpur, Chitra Singh, all the way to Adnan Sami, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kunal Ganjawala). Our children also treated us with their cute renditions of some popular numbers.

After 95% of the guests departed, our very own Deb (of the famous singing-duo PiyaDeb) treated us to a couple of bengali Hemanta numbers.....exquisite renditions, must I admint. However, our heart was still not content, so, we sat around for a while and chatted until our eyelids couldn't withstand the burden of being kept open. Finally, we hit the sack around 5 in the morning.

Songs, gossips, jokes, late-night chats, etc. etc. are common in such congregations. We did all that. But the real icing on the cake was:
- Ramesh' recorded voice, wishing us to have a great party.
- Deblina's "Lag ja gale"......oh, that buttery, sweet voice......I told her before, Japan is not where she belongs!!!
- Sri Vidya: never heard a more beautiful rendition of "Bole re papi hara" ever before......
- Live calls from our very one Azam.....that was the first time I ever spoke with him. He was so very much missed at the party.......and apparently he missed us too, as he spent a considerable amount of time listening to our songs live. he even listened to my entire "Humeh tumse pyar kitna"! Good to hear your live voice Azam Bhai!
- Live chatting with our Soumitra!!! Friends, this man sounds the same way as he sounds in his songs..wish you were here Soumitra. (contd.)

Thanks to PiyaDeb for getting these friends even closer.

Aur hamare host/hostess ka kya kehna! The way they took care of everything, from decoration to food, to drink, to who sleeps where, to......well, you got the idea, it was just impeccable. The amount of food & number of items dished out from the 'Appaiahs' Kitchen' could feed the entire army (and they did, we all pigged-out). We all knew what Vidyu's voice-box churns out; this time we savored her culinary talent (am not done yet, she is a great painter as well!).

Last, but surely never the last, Kush, Prarthana & Pratika well deserves a big round of applause, if not a standing ovation! Without Kush' techy fingers, our voices wouldn't have been heard by the crowd. This (poor) man never got to sit for a second, fulfilling the never-ending demands of us, fiddling with the knobs on the sound system, hooking/re-hooking 15 million cables from one laptop to another (and in between he even managed to serve us drinks, custom-ordered yet). Prarthana & Pratika literally scooped up the kids the moment they arrived at the Appaiah residence, and kept them under their trusted wings, taking full care of them each, while we indulged into our 12-hours long Marathon Music Madness. My hats off to these two young ladies!!! The parents didn't even have to think twice about their kids, as these two 'sisters' took care of them, leaving the parents to enjoy a worry-free evening.

Just an FYI, Harshal not only plays keyboard, or sings......he is a great dancer as well. Amita too, singer and a dancer.

With all the Olympus, Minolta, Pentax flashing throughout the evening, the question comes how many duplicates would there be if we all post together. I took videos, but won't be able to convert them (almost 4 8mm tapes) into digital forms, unless I take a leave of absence, for about 2 weeks. So, you guys have to either settle for VHS copies, or get to see them in the next meet.

And that's all folks, end of my Chitragupt Diary.

Regards, Asim

Vidyu

wow!!! i actually took a break from the forum for 4 days!!! yay!! well, it's bcos i got to spend the weekend with the Taranaaites yes, it truely was a blast!!! I don't think my family and I will forget this weekend ever! I just read all that everyone had to say about the 27th and don't think i hv any adjectives left to add to say how good every one sang!! Recordings almost always sound good...but singing live is a diff cup of tea and wow! what awesome singing! an absolute delight to hear about 15+ good singers on one single evening!

Kush & I & the girls wouldn't hv found it so easy to manage a big group w/o the helping hands of all our wonderful guests...a mere THANK YOU will not suffice...We really want to thank each and everyone of u who came for making it so easy for us to manage the whole event.. Jyotsna (Jazzz) too joined us despite the fact that she just flew in home after a 2 week vacation..I have to mention Archana, Amita (Mulherkar), Piya, Ramola, Rashi, Jo, u guys are awesome!!! W/o ur help i certainly wouldn't hv been able to do it...It was so much fun that we all got along so well and felt right at home in each others company! Thankyou SO much!!!

Asim....guys, this man can not only sing but can make the BEST rasmalaais....am not kiddin'....he actually made them himself and brought with him ALL the way from Philly a ton of Rasmalaais and all of us enjoyed it a great deal! Thanks Asim! Delicious!!!!!

The kids were a treat...to say the least...they actually put up with our marathon music session w/o complaining! Thanks kiddos!!!

Our singing couples were all fantastic...it was so nice to listen to them live..Harshal-Amita, Piya-Deb, TK-Ramola (for those of u who don't know them, they r our good friends here in VA who r also Taranaa members..but not seen around on the forum) they churned out some fabulous numbers...great singing guys!! and dancing!

It was a wonderful surprise for us when at about dinner time Deb announced he has a little 'something' for all of us to enjoy..and none of us guessed we would be listening to Ramesh, Deb, Soumitra & Vidya...Thankyou sooo much guys for sharing with us ur music and ur words...each one of ur songs were absolutely beautifully rendered. Ramesh we felt it to be so true when u mentioned that Taranaa has brought in a lot of peace in ur life...it has in all of ours too

Naimish went ahead and proposed we meet again in 2 months at his place and even before this one could end, we were all thinking of going to the next one!!! says a lot!! Yes..a truly wonderful group of like minded music lovers! We're blessed to have gotten to know each and everyone of u! Once again thanks SO much all of u for having come home and made this so very memorable!

Harshal-Amita and the kids, u missed the first GTG at LI...where we had a lot of fun too...and we are very happy u made it to this one...it's ur 'baby' that actually brought all of us together!

Will share the pics with all of u and the songs...still recovering from the weekend

Jazz :

Wow after anoop and asim jiz comments and renditions of the gtg i have nothing left to write about. They pretty much summed it all up and very well too might i add.

Well but i could add lil snippets here n there i guess, firstly a big THANK U to vidyu and her entire family for the hospitality and warmth they showed to each and everyone there, as asim g said hats off to the whole family, Kush was the most kindest, gentle and warm person i met as well as their daughters who were hands on with everything, and of course vidyu with her bubly and happy personality running around like a chicken with its head cut off doin a zillion things at one time was amazing, with the food and entertainment n of course not to mention her beautiful voice and singing, and oh yea the desert yummmmmmmmmmmm (Asim g is the best rasmalai maker ever....shhhhh secret) My mouth is watering just by the thought of that rasmalai, Way 2go Asim.

Well now for who all were present.. i got there pretty late around 6 when the party was in full swing which i guess is the best time to show up dont u think, i almost didnt make it since i just flew back into town that morning but i tried my best and im so glad i did, cuz i had a blast and met some awesum people and singers.

So i met... PiyaDeb and their kids.. which i will remember piya always since she made me wait outside for 10 mins before she could find vidyu to identify me and let me in..lolll and yea they both are awesummmmmmmm singers as well as their son. Raj and family whose son also gave us a song and made us move to the beat with dus bahane...veryyy cute, and raj has the most sooothing easy flowing voice..awesumm. Harshal and family...very laid back easy going couple, danced sang and had such a good time like we all knew each other forever. HAVE I BORED U GUYS YET.... WELL I DONT CARE I HAVE MORE........READ ON

So here we go again...moving along then.. Naimish(Sorry if i spelt that wrong..im bad at remembering names sad innit) he was cool, laid back..unfortunately din get to hear him but hopefully will at the next gtg, he has to leave early since he had to drive back .

Then there was the amazing voice of ASIM g .....WOWOWOWOW he is an awesum person and and awesum singer.. so happy go lucky and fun loving, i loved hangin out with him and of course listening to him and yea not to mention the RASMALAI again...im gonna be nice to him and praise him some more so he can make some more of that again . Then we had Anoop and his family...he made us all dance to his dekha na haye re socha na number..and scared harshals daughter to death with his koookooorukookoo was a lot of fun though, very nice and soft spoken with a beautiful voice.

We had TK and Ramola g, wonderful couple with awesum personalities and voices along with Surinder and Manoj with great voices.

I dont think i missed anyone but if i did then blame it on the aftereffects of all the drinks Kush was making people have

So anyways overall it was a BLAST and the people who missed it...awwwwwwwwww im bein naughty aint i...anyways so whoever missed it got a detailed description of all that went on and who was present and what happened so u dont feel left out ...The recorded msgs and songs of some of the members was awesum and added such a touch to the whole evening. Well n the rest is history with singing and dancing, beautiful voices , great food and warm hearts.. Looking forward to the next one at Naimishs and hope the ones who missed this one make it to the next cuz i am not writing this all over again well so i guess i should stop rite????? Oh well wth i will quit.......MAKE IT TO THE NEXT ONE Everyone!! Peace!!!!!!!!!!!!
